16520 Final Thoughts

by Ed Delgado

The 16520 was the start of something big for Rolex chronographs. With the introduction of the 116520 and a new Rolex in house movement, the 16520 is now out of production and has become quite collectable. They also revived the vintage chronograph watches for Rolex.

The R Porcelain dial version with serial R8XX are becoming hugely popular and so are the R and L series with the early mark I and II dials. The gold versions of the R and L are also very popular amongts collector.s

The other popular versions are the later A and P serial due to the SEL bracelet and lumi dial.

The Patrizzi Daytonas are also quite popular these days..

The rarest of the breed might be the Tiffany and Co or Cartier dialed 16520, but caveat emptor, these watches should be carefully checked as there are many fakes around. The only way to prove their authenticity might be the original punched papers showing Tiffany and Co. or Cartier as their retailer.
